One-Act Play- Hindi- 2016

The theme for the competition this year was "Plays/Stories/Events related to the History of India". The Blue and Green houses enacted respective plays on April 29, 2016 whereas the Red and Yellow houses on April 30, 2016. The competition results were announced on April 30, 2016.

Green "Charumitra"(चारुमित्रा) The play was an adaptation of one-act play by the renowned Hindi poet, Ram Kumar Verma. The protagonist is Charumitra who served Emperor Asoka. She belonged to Kalinga, but the display of her loyalty in serving Emperor Asoka made him give up violence against the people of Kalinga.
Blue "Main bhi maanav hoon"(मैं भी मानव हूँ ) The play was adapted from the drama written by Vishnu Prabhakar- "Main bhi maanav hoon". It highlighted the change of heart of Emperor Asoka after his daughter Sanghamitra discussed the fallout of Kalinga War with him.
Yellow "Mangal Pandey"(मंगल पांडे) The play focused on Mangal Pandey, a sepoy serving in the British East India Company Army. His name appears in the modern Indian history for playing a key role in the events that were the immediate cause of the outbreak of the Great Rebellion of 1857 against the British.
Red "Ek Yug Ka Ant"(एक युग का अंत ) Chanakya was the key person who led to the rise of the Mauryan empire. The theme of the play was jealousy of a few traitors of Magadha towards Chanakya and Asoka. The play showed conspiracy against Chanakya that led to a fatal attack on him.
