The 21st Inter-House English
One-Act Plays were staged amid cool breeze and skies brimming with
anticipation, not only for rain, but for the surge of drama that unfolded on
stage across two days; 1 and 2 May 2026, reviving the timeless charm of Literary
Ballads.
A truly unique feature of the
School, these one-act plays continue to be widely admired as an
enduring tradition proudly carried forward year after year, both in Hindi and
English.
Each house created its own spell on stage going in
sync with the theme. Chittorgarh stirred the
senses with The Ballad of Reading Gaol,
where emotions pulsed to a haunting rhythm and the shadow of death sent chills
through the audience. Kumbhalgarh followed with Lochinvar, capturing Victorian
elegance through evocative costumes and poised storytelling.
Ranthambore’s The Highwayman
unfolded like a lyrical symphony, its music heightening every beat of drama and
romance and Mehrangarh brought the curtains down with The Shooting of Dan McGrew,
infusing the stage with energy and wit and leaving the audience thoroughly entertained.
From haunting intensity to lyrical beauty
and vibrant humour, all the four plays received rave reviews from the adjudicators,
Dr. Sandhya Raina, Dr. Aditi Khandelwal, and Mr. Chirag Balani.
Ranthambore lifted the Overall Trophy along with the one for the Best English One-Act Play and the Best Director (Kanupriya Agarwal) followed by Chittorgarh, Mehrangarh and Kumbhalgarh.
