It was once again the
month of April, and the Department of English was abuzz with discussions and
deliberations to settle on the theme for this yearβs English One-Act Plays.
After exploring all possibilities, from William Congreve to Sheridan, Molière
and beyond, the idea that finally emerged from the βπ―πππππππππβ (no prizes for
guessing where that came from!) was πππ«π¬π ππ₯ππ²π¬... a refreshing new
direction for the One-Acts at Mayoor!
What followed was a
delightful and thoroughly enjoyable journey of bringing this vision to life,
with everyone pitching in to the best of their abilities. While some got busy
selecting the poems, others immersed themselves in stage adaptations,
scripting, costumes and props. And of course, there were those who kindly
corrected the pronunciation of βPOYUMβ and βPOMEβ to the proper
βPOβ¦em!β(inspired and fuelled by Ms. Shaheen Agarwal, our TEDx Speaker).
The equally enjoyable
rehearsals and practice sessions culminated in the staging of ππ«π’π¬πaπππ₯ by Mehrangarh and ππ ππ¨π§π π¬ ππ§π πππ π ππ«π¬ (a fusion of The Frog
and the Nightingale & Julius Ceasar) by Kumbhalgarh on Friday, 25 April
2025 and ππ‘π πππ₯π π¨π ππ‘π πππ₯π¨π§ ππ’ππ² by Ranthambore and ππ‘π ππ’π π‘π π¨π ππ‘π πππ¨π«π©π’π¨π§ by Chittorgarh on
Saturday, 26 April 2025.
Mehrangarh walked away
with the winning trophy as well as the award for the best Brochure Designing,
followed by Ranthambore at the Second Position and Kumbhalgarh &
Chittorgarh jointly at the Third. Kumbhalgarh also won the trophy for the Best
Stage Setting.
The Judges for the
event were Shri Abhimanyu Kanodia(noted Film Maker and Alumnus), Dr. Jyoti
Chandel(Prof. of Political Science, Sophia College, Ajmer) and Smt. Alka Tak
(Prof. of English, Govt. College, Ajmer).
